Philly Wine Week: Day 2

What better way to kick off Philly Wine Week than with Georges Perrier opening a bottle of champagne with a sabre. And that’s exactly how Philadelphia’s first ever wine week started.

Today sees more fun as Jet Wine Bar kicks off its local lunch and local wine series. All week, Alla Spina is pouring Karamoor Estates wine on tap. This evening they’ll have Kevin Robinson from Karamoor in the building from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Barbuzzo is offering a one-pound lobster, spicy San Marzano sauce and a glass of Basilica Cafaggio Chianti.

The Toast at Ten will happen at Bar Ferdinand

As long as I get a buzz, I don’t care what or where it’s from.
    Wine snobs are elitists.

Well then you should be happy with these events. They feature local and cheap wines that are of little or no interest to the snob set. As a former wine snob, because of the PLCB there is no wine snob culture in the Philly restaurant scene outside of the BYOB and the catered home-party set.

The Barbuzzo lobster pasta & wine special was terrific. That sauce was amazing.
