This Just In: Jose Garces Opening In NYC

This just in to the Foobooz World HQ news desk:

New York, March 12 2014 — Brookfield Office Properties Inc. (BPO: NYSE, TSX) announces that Chef Jose Garces, the Philadelphia-based James Beard award-winning restaurateur will open his first New York restaurant at Brookfield Place in 2015.

Chef Jose Garces is one of only a few chefs in the country to hold the coveted title of Food Network’s Iron Chef.

Yup, that’s right. Philly’s own Iron Chef is headed for the Big Apple. He’ll be part of a massive, multi-million-dollar renovation and redesign of properties on Vesey Street in Lower Manhattan which will include high-end retail, lots of fancy-pants restaurants and even more quick-serve restaurants. And while sure, Garces has restaurants now scattered all over the country, this will be the first time he makes a run at New York. Though considering the amount of great talent we’ve been lifting from Manhattan lately, giving a little back seems like a downright neighborly thing for us to do.

There’s no word yet on what Garces will be opening in NYC, only that he’ll be “handcrafting a unique restaurant for Brookfield Place designed for the vibrant downtown community of local residents, leading businesses, and tourists from across the globe.”
