New Barbecue and Music Spot for Center City

hill country barbecue marketOn Philly Chit Chat, HughE Dillon is saying that Hill Country Barbecue and Market is coming to the 1900 block of Chestnut Street. Dillon says the New York-based barbecue joint is taking over the old liquor store at 1913 Chestnut Street.

Hill Country Barbecue and Market currently has locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Washington D.C., each of which also offers live music.

If Hill Country does come to Philadelphia, the plans are in their infancy, no liquor license application has been applied for yet according to the PLCB’s system.

Pete Wells of the New York Times gave the Manhattan location two stars back in 2012.

Meh, I ate at the DC location and was not impressed. There’s better barbecue in Philly already.
