Pairing Beer With Girl Scout Cookies At 320 Market Cafe

GirlScoutFlight

Pairing a fistful of Girl Scout cookies with beer? That’s just a Tuesday night for a lot of us. But 320 Market Cafe in Swarthmore is trying to class things up a little by actually putting some thought into how to pair cookies and beer.

Starting on Wednesday, January 22nd, at 3:30pm, owner David Cunicelli will be offering flights of 4oz pours and two cookies for just $12. This will go on for as long as his cookie supplies hold out. Here’s his idea of the ideal pairings…

320 Market Cafe Girl Scout Cookie & Beer Pairing

beginning Wednesday, January 22nd at 3:20pm

Caramel deLites
with
Lancaster Double Chocolate Milk Stout

Peanut Butter Patties
with
Founders Imperial Stout

Lemonades
with
Ship Bottom Beach Patrol Hefeweizen

Cranberry Citrus Crisps
with
Bell’s Two Hearted IPA

Now personally, I generally pair canned Yuengling with whatever box of cookies my daughter the Girl Scout has left momentarily unattended, but whatever. These sound pretty good, too. And unless 320 Market Cafe has cases and cases of cookies stockpiled in the backroom, I'm guessing this promotion is going to be over fast, so get there as quick as you can.

So…just so we have this straight….we’re getting the equivalent of 1 pint of beer and 8 girl scout cookies for 12 bucks? what a deal…….

I wonder what makes Mr. Cuccinelli qualified to designate these pairings… is he a certified cookie sommelier? I predict that approximately 2 people will purchase this menu – both of them obese.

I thought Swarthmore was a dry town.

Technically this storefront is in Springfield, though most people assume this stretch of 320 is Swarthmore.

That’s what I thought, anything south and west of the stoplight near the old theater is either Ridley or Springfield.

Using Swarthmore outside the borough makes for a tonier address.

That must be why the USPS bestowed them with the Swarthmore zip code.

I wouldn’t say “just” $12 as that’s a bit pricey. OTOH, you could probably expect to pay $7 or so for 16 oz. of one of those beers, so it’s not outrageous to add $5 to make it flight and get 8 cookies (or is it 7?–one cookie seems to have been swiped).

I suspect it’s not going to sell out quickly. At $9 or $10, maybe. But it does look good!

The Double Windsor in Brooklyn has been doing a Girl Scout Cookies and beer pairing for years now…and they sure don’t charge $12 for 16oz of beer and a handful of cookies!
