Multiple Videos of Smash-and-Grab Burglar

On Monday we told you about a series of smash and grab burglaries happening on South Street in Graduate Hospital as well as on Grays Ferry Avenue.

Since then the Philadelphia Police have connected the man with multiple burglaries spanning Washington Square West, Fitler Square, Graduate Hospital and  Schuylkill neighborhoods. The break-ins have all occurred between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m.

The businesses hit include:

  • Pac-a-Deli (1200 Walnut Street)
  • Palm Tree Gourmet (1940 Pine Street)
  • Gavin’s Cafe (2536 Pine Street)

The suspect caught on the surveillance videos is described as a black male with a thin build, in his 40s. In the break-ins, little cash has been stolen ($200 at Palm Tree is the most he’s made off with) but the property damage has been a thousand dollars or more in each case).

Jezebel Careaga of Gavin’s Cafe said “They busted the cash drawer to obtain $70. Very saddening, it’s unbelievable how people who work hard everyday have to pay for thief’s Holidays spree.”
