The Details on Tela’s Market & Kitchen

Chad Williams (the opening chef de cuisine at Amada) has been away from Philadelphia for a while, but he’s come home to open Tela’s Market & Kitchen on Fairmount Avenue for owner and real estate developer Daniel Greenberg.

Tela’s is being pitched as an artisinal grocery store and cafe, and the 2,800 square-foot space will offer produce, meat, seafood, baked goods, prepared foods from Williams and his kitchen team, an on-site butcher, a coffee bar pouring Four Barrel coffee from San Francisco and once-weekly, 12-seat “Dinner Table” dinners–a reservation-only, family-style meal prepared by Williams and his crew using all the best of the market’s offerings.

There’ll be a 30-seat indoor cafe (as well as an additional 40 outdoor seats once the weather turns friendly again), and a whole roster of holiday meals and composed plates for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Because the market is aiming now for a November opening, they’re already looking at offering a full Thanksgiving spread for those who don’t want to do the cooking themselves.

Tela’s will be open daily from 6:30am to 9pm, giving the Fairmount neighbors plenty of time to get in and score whatever it is they need. Amd for those of you who are already looking forward to seeing Williams in action at one of the the weekly dinners, reservations are already being accepted. Just call 215-232-4710 to see what’s available.
