Eat for a Less Racist Cheesesteak

On Monday, Stu Bykofsky reported for the Daily News that Joe’s Steaks (formerly Chink’s) had taken a hit in business since dropping the name based on a racial slur. Old regulars are boycotting owner Joe Groh over the name change and some who do go, can’t help but show their disdain. Groh and his staff have even had to deal with graffiti attempting to reestablish the old name (see above).

All of this strikes the Philly Post’s Joel Mathis as preposterous, so he’s planning an eat-in for this Saturday at the Northeast Philadelphia steak shop. See the Facebook event for details.
