The Southwest Philly Floater in Liquid Form

Two days ago we told you about a couple of sandwiches named for La Salle’s Tyron Garland’s winning shot over Ole Miss. We wondered when we would see a liquid version and naturally, we didn’t have to wait long.

Tonight Jet Wine Bar is celebrating La Salle’s trip to the Sweet Sixteen with their version of the Southwest Philly Floater. The $9 cocktail is made of gin, Blue Curacao and lemon juice, topped with a Grand Marnier floater.

At Bridget Foy’s on South Street, bartender and La Salle prof Joe Doyle is smartly preparing a Southwest Philly Floater with Christian Brothers Brandy on account of the university’s affiliation with the Christian Brothers. The drink is finished with creme de cacao, an ice cream float. and a rim of cinnamon sugar.

A La Salle basketball forum also posted a recipe for a Southwest Philly Floater. Their version also includes blue curacao and has all the measurements, in case you want to make it at home.
