New Happy Hour Menu At The St. James


Okay, so the St. James in Ardmore has been going through some rough times. But as partner Michael Schulson explained when we talked to him a couple weeks back, he isn’t giving up the fight on the Main Line. He’s been re-doing menus, firing kitchen crew and working the line himself at the embattled joint in order to bring it back from the brink.

And now, he has a new happy hour menu that just got announced (it launches at 4pm today). And while no, we don’t believe that some pickles and sliders can completely turn a place around, that shrimp roll certainly does seem to be a step in the right direction.

    I’d really like to hear good news from this place, since I’d love something walkable that’s on a par with Teresa’s Next Door or TJ’s (or even Devil’s Alley, if we’re going standard good bar food in the city, though frankly those two places further out in the burbs are vastly superior), but happy hour seems an odd place to start; those of us who work in the city still aren’t home by that point to even think about heading out again (and often when we do, we have kids in tow, though of the well-behaved-in-real-restaurants sort) – and if I only wanted a beer, I’d just go to Tired Hands. Still, fingers crossed things improve; the location shouldn’t be a problem when there are places flourishing much further out.
