Philly-ism Loves Christopher Lee at 1623

Our new friends at Philly-ism gave Chris Lee’s Sophia’s pop-up a go, and they seemed to fall in love. Right now, the space is aptly named Christopher Lee at 1623, and like Grub Street mentioned a while back, they’ll close again in February for some reconstruction and reopen again as Sophia’s when all is said and done.

But for right now, it’s Christopher Lee at 1623, and he’s apparently put together quite the tasting menu.

Parsnip Soup, Braised Short Rib, Crispy Horseradish, Celery Leaves

Arugula & Fennel Salad, Parmesan Cheese, Pears, Almonds, Pomegranate Vinaigrette

Butternut Squash Ravioli, Pancetta, Brussels Sprouts Leaves, Cider Brown Butter Sauce

Seared Diver Sea Scallops, Cauliflower, Capers, Kumquats, Local Honey, Verjus

Wild Striped Bass, Little Neck Clams, Leeks, Baby Turnips, Fine Herbs

Grilled Aged NY Strip Loin, Creamed Spinach, Fingerling Potatoes, Brandied Peppercorn Jus

Desserts from Fond:

Dark Chocolate Cheesecake

Warm Apple Cake

The tasting menu can be revisited this Friday, January 4th.

Cheers to Sophia’s at 1623 E. Passyunk [Philly-ism]

CK is going to ride McCoy until the wheels fall off. He is going to have a monster year. Cooper is going to see lots of playing time this year simply because he is the best blocking wide receive the Iggles have. Throughout pre-season the Eagles ran many sets with multiple tight ends, however we didn’t really see that at all yesterday.

While the read-option will be the most run play, Vick will really try to not pull and run it himself unless it’s a big third/fourth down or it’s wide open.

    always love these.

i was very surprised not to see damaris more. nor the TE heavy sets. lots of stuff still on the cutting room floor for the eagles.

notice on shady’s long td run, that they are in 11 (3 wide), and the defense is nickel. i guess they felt that this personnel grouping gave them a better matchup vs. WAS. it will be interesting to see whether there’s a particular ‘flavor’ or personnel grouping for each game.

If Casey is any good he will start stealing snaps from Ertz, who had a couple of drops. The throws weren’t perfect but he got his hands on them and should have held on.

give the kid a break, first nfl game. if by mid season he has same issues, then it’s time for some chatter.

    • BIGJES

watching that story on Casey glad he got that contract rough childhood he deserves a break

  • sprawl

Will be fun once the Eagles put all this stuff out there on film and opposing defenses have to prepare for EVERYTHING.

Watch the 2+ TE sets come out heavily next week vs the Chargers… then the Chiefs week 3 don’t know which elements to focus on. Big change from how it felt with Andy/MM

The defense looked great through 3.. Trent cole looked like a beast.. Happy to eat my words bashing him all preseason.. All the lbs looked good really.. D line kept em clean.. Defense really surprised me.. Vick,, desean,, and McCoy.. Teams better get ready!! Cary Williams,, I think I speak for everybody when I say that u are forgiven.. Nice start team

Shoot, Cary can fight anyone he wants in practice.

I still think over the long haul teams will pick on him. However, what a refreshing change to see a guy play like he gives a damn on defense. Havent seem that in years. The entire D seemed to play with a different sense of purpose than in these past few years.

Eagles tried were beating up a bad secondary. When we play a team that’s weak in the box, I think we’ll see more of Casey.

    • cliff henny

when that happens…how many yards will mccoy run for?

      • Adam

        all the yards

        • cliff henny

80 plays…70 rushes for 500 yards, lol…but seriously, ever think you’d see the day eagles were 2-1 run/pass ratio. have to check rulebook, not even sure that’s legal. might have to forfeit game

They obviously like Ertz more than Casey as a receiver. Which is a bit odd since Ertz cant seem to catch footballs. I think Casey was simply a very overblown story line in the offseason and a ridiculous contract for what he is.

I think Kelly probably expected to mix in some more Bryce Brown and even throw in a little action Plok’s way, but it’s so hard to take Shady off the field after some of those runs. Even after being the workhorse of this offense, he appeared pretty fresh in his post game saying numerous times that he wasn’t tired. I’m hoping we can give him a rest from time to time, but that’s doing the defense a favor almost every time.

Surprised Johnson didnt really play. Think he can be dangerous in space. But just one game. Looks like they will rotate at NT evenly.

Poyer was terrible…got beat on late touchdown by Hankerson and was late on tackle on key 3rd down
