2013 Promises Two Beer Blasts from the Past

Yards Brewing used to brew Trubbel de Yards as a seasonal when the brewery was but a young pup in the late-nineties. The beer is described on its label as a “Belgian-style tripel dubbel ale.” The beer promises aromas of biscuit, chocolate and caramel, with the spiciness of a tripel and the maltiness of a dubbel. It made a very limited return in 2012 but this year promises a wider distribution. The beer is currently available in big bottles at the brewery and will start showing up on store shelves after the new year. On Thursday, January 24th, the beer will be officially launched at Johnny Brenda’s.  Mark your calendars now.

Dock Street Brewing also appears to be reaching into its past for a beer. The brewery has recently received labeling approval for its Illuminator Doppelbock. An oldie but a goody to craft beer old-heads. Don’t expect to be able to purchase a bottle anywhere as the labeling is for kegs, but it does appear that it will be brewed for the first time since 2010. We’d look for it around March or April.
