America’s Oldest Italian Restaurant Opening in King of Prussia

Ralph’s Italian Restaurant, which recently inherited the title of oldest Italian restaurant in America thanks to the closing of San Francisco’s Fior D’Italia, is opening another location. This time the Philadelphia classic is opening its doors in King of Prussia. If that wasn’t odd enough, it’s opening in the new 180-room Sheraton Valley Forge.

According to Ralph’s Facebook announcement the new locale, named Ralph’s of South Philly, will be the first venture for the Rubino Restaurant Group. Named after Ryan Rubino, the owner of Ralph’s, the group will begin their ventures with the Valley Forge location and have “a number of new business opportunities” planned for the future.  The Sheraton Valley Forge is slated to open September 27th.

The restaurant and bar will be open from 11am to 11pm and will seat around 100 guests. In the near future Ralph’s will feature small demonstrations and cooking classes as well. Ralph’s of South Philly will feature more contemporary Italian dishes than its predecessor, with old favorites like the Famous Veal Parm popping up along the menu. Most entrees run from $16-$25 with some steak and veal entrees sitting around $40.

Whether the Rubino Restaurant Group will be expanding with their Ralph’s brand or with a different project remains to be seen. Despite the concerns one must have about an opening near the chain restaurant haven that is King of Prussia Mall, we wish Ralph’s another 100+ years.
