Six Pack: Crab in Philadelphia

With only a few weeks left until fall, now is the time to stuff yourself with as much seafood as you can possibly hold in order to hang on tight to that East Coast summer feeling. To that end, we’ve recently brought you Foobooz Six Packs on lobster and fish tacos, and now it’s time for a round-up of where to get crabs In Philly.

Enjoy!

Crab Night at Route 6

Every Wednesday night from 5pm to closing, Stephen Starr’s Route 6 does a Maryland Crab Night. The crabs themselves go for $6.50 each and they’re served Maryland-style–warm and un-cleaned, meaning you get to crack open that baby with a mallet yourself. Any dinner that involves a hammer is one we’re excited to be a part of.

I did not believe it was possible to list great crab places in Philadelphia and not mention Chickie and Pete’s. Yes, it’s an empire now, but the crabs are still solid.

Also a bit afield, but the legendary Blue Claw Crab Eatery in Burlington, NJ, deserves its appellation.

I continue to have concerns that Aubrey is both not trying this food and/or is being paid to promote advertisers. Neither may be the case but it’s being written in such a way that I don’t believe you like/tried this food.

@Jay, That would explain the inclusion of the Morgan’s Pier fish tacos, which were described by her exactly as they are on the menu while being unanimously panned in the comments.

In the burbs, Capone’s in Norristown has all-you-can-eat crab legs for 19.99. And for those of you in the mood for mollusks, Chicks Tavern in Bridgeport has all-you-can eat mussels (get the red!!) for 14.99 partnered with all the crusty italian bread to sop up the deliciousness!
