Jose Garces Openings At Revel In Atlantic City

Opening one new restaurant is tough. Opening two? That’s crazy. But Jose Garces (who, I think, must have access to both a jet pack and a time machine what with his sudden explosion of interstate restaurant openings) will, come April, be opening three new restaurants, in Atlantic City, all within 14 days.

Then, when he’s done, he’s going to ride his bike from A.C. to Paris, fight Mike Tyson and eat the entire moon in a single sitting.

All three openings (three-and-a-half, really) will be happening at the new Revel in Atlantic City over the first two weeks in April with Distrito Cantina (and an indoor version of his Guapos Tacos food truck) opening on April 2nd, a clone of his first restaurant, Amada, debuting on April 9 and a new outpost of Village Whiskey throwing wide the doors on April 16.

And let’s not forget, these openings follow a year spent expanding his Garces Restaurant Group empire to Scottsdale, AZ and Palm Springs. The man has been busy.

These openings are all coming during Revel’s eight-week “Preview” which will see the staggered roll-out of all its restaurants, clubs, spas and what-not. The Distrito/Guapos debut will actually be among the first, offering a margarita bar and food being offered through the truck parked permanently next door. The Revel Amada will seat 300 and offer Andalusian tapas and live flamenco dancing. And Village Whiskey? Obviously that will be a combination sushi bar and Indo-Thai noodle shop with daily clog dancing demonstrations and servers dressed in authentic dirndl skirts and wimples.

Whiskey, kids. Village Whiskey will have whiskey. Lots and lots of whiskey. Also, duck fat fries. But mostly whiskey.
