In Riva Bringing Italian to Kelly Drive in East Falls

In Riva will replace the former Franco’s on Kelly Drive

This December chef Arthur Cavaliere plans to open In Riva in East Falls. The restaurant will take over the former Franco’s Trattoria overlooking Kelly Drive and the Schuylkill River. Cavaliere, a Philadelphia native has a rich history in Philadelphia restaurants since starting as a line cook for chef Derek Davis in 1996. Since then he joined the Starr empire and worked with Jose Garces at El Vez. He followed Garces to Amada before returning as executive chef at El Vez. Then after a stint at Parc, Cavaliere left Philadelphia for work in Washington DC and in Michigan.

In Riva will be his first restaurant and will specialize in Napoletana style pizza, contemporary antipasti and Southern Italian inspired dishes. Menu prices will range from $8-19.

The restaurant will have a liquor license and will feature Italian and New World wines, Italian craft beers and specialty cocktails.

How many bombs can hit one location?

    You guys are assholes.

Oh the ignorance of people. Empty heads always make the most noise. Can’t wait to dine here, I’ve heard some sneak peaks from future employees and it sounds like the menu is going to be amazing, hopefully none of you tasteless people will go and spoil an enjoyable evening for the rest of us…or you can be a little open minded and try something new besides chicken parm- now THAT is dull. And Michigan has nothing to do with heritage, just because you transfer for work, doesn’t change who you are.

What’s the parking situation at this place? I see it when I’m on Kelly Drive, but it looks hard to get to.

  • Snake, It’s just a single turn off Kelly Drive and there’s now a municipal lot across the street from the restaurant. An advantage that previous tenants couldn’t capitalize on.

Happy to see Good people doing well.
This restaurant will be a success from day 1.

I wonder how long until Sherman eats yet another chef alive, like he did with the family that ran Sprigs, and then with Franco. He only seems to know how to destroy, not build, anything, all in the name of the great god $$$.

Thank goodness Franco survived Sherman’s onslaught, and has moved on to now run a very successful and thriving BYOB.
