Reading Terminal Renovations Update with Opening Date for Molly Malloy’s

If you’ve been in the Reading Terminal Market in the past few weeks you may have seen some of these renderings posted around the market. They include the new and larger DiNic’s that will be opening where Harry Ochs stand was located.

There are also renderings of the other stalls that are shifting and getting a face lift including the new Molly Malloy’s which is replacing the tired Beer Garden. Malloy’s also has gotten its social media in order with a new Facebook page and Twitter account. The gastropub is owned by the Iovine Brothers and is aiming to open on October 11th. The bar will offer its own food and beer for eat-in or takeout. Happy hour will be offered daily from 4 to 6 p.m.

Any news on the discussions of expanding the market across Filbert into the Headhouse?

Can’t really tell much from those renderings, but it looks as if they gave DiNics more seating. Great, but what DiNics actually needs is more space for the line, which gets ridiculous at times. We’ll see how this plays out. At least they won’t be right smack in the main aisle.
Good to see Haltemann’s get a nicer, larger space – they’re the best butcher in the market.

Anyone know if you still be able to bring food in from other market vendors and eat it in the bar? I always eat in the beer garden because it usually is less crowded than the rest of the market.

  • lilpit

I heard that you will not be allowed to bring in food from other vendors.

Would be nice if the Reading Terminal could buy/rent the space that is currently occupied by the awful ‘Field House’ sports bar, maybe build am enclosed sky walk across the street.

  • How about we think bigger and consider closing Filbert to traffic and expanding the market all the way across. Filbert isn’t much of a cross street anyway and that would really allow the market to expand.

  • lilpit

That’s not a bad idea since all it’s good for now is a place for panhandlers to hang out when it rains.

  • DiNic’s seating will be doubled.

  • lilpit

Seating is not their current problem, it’s line control.
