Crumbs Confirms 18th Street Opening

Just about a month ago we told you that Crumbs Bake Shop was looking for real estate in Center City. Today we can confirm that the first Philadelphia outpost of the publicly traded cupcake emporium will open at 133 S 18th Street, between Walnut and Sansom Streets. The location has been hotly contested as there were preliminary plans for a Dunkin Donuts there but that met with local resistance. Hopefully for Crumbs, Rittenhouse denizens will be more open to the gourmet cupcakes, cookies and cakes that Crumbs hopes to start selling in January.

This is just the first area location for Crumbs, the company is looking for more Philadelphia real estate.

Another corporate company coming to a small town. Havent we lost it for large companies that feed us crap.

  • lilpit

Small town? Seriously? 6th largest city in the US, second largest in the East, and we’re suddenly a small town? STFU.

  • barryg

Philly is the 5th largest city in the US. And we already have a ton of chains, it’s not a big deal.

  • Really

What? Have you even been to Crumbs? Just because a company has more then one location doesn’t make it crap.

  • cremebrulee

I’m not crazy about their cupcakes, but most people seem to enjoy them. I think it’ll be a nice addition to Rittenhouse.

I am really happy that Crumbs is coming here. I’ve been to the ones in New York and DC and they have a nice variety of cupcakes. I certainly prefer this to Dunkin Donuts.

Crumbs has the best cupcakes on the planet. DD is average to poor for a donut chain. Can’t wait for it to open!!! Brought back 6 to freeze when I went to LA – they are that good.
