Strike Hits Hoagies Hard

Amoroso drivers have struck this morning leading to a shortage of hoagie and steak rolls around town. Teamsters Local 463 has opposed Amoroso’s attempts to get its drivers to purchase their routes and become independent operators.

Other popular bakers such as Liscio’s are attempting to pick up the slack but today will be a struggle for some operators like the Far From Home Cafe which tweeted it would not be at Love Park today because they have no rolls.

note to far from home: MORE EMPANADAS! their burger rolls sucked anyway, didn’t know they were amoroso, but that makes sense…amoroso is overrated.

I’m sure they could have found a worthy substitute for the Amoroso rolls. And I agree that Amoroso rolls are mediocre. People just make these weird-ass business decisions that bite them in the ass. I don’t think this is a major event in Far From Home’s history, but after a stroke of genius like the empanada fest, to follow it up with a brain fart like closing because your bakery is on strike just leaves you shaking your head.

Here’s a stroke of genius: hamburger sliders between two cheesy empanadas!

    your welcome.

Forget that & keep it simple – the Mighty Moo empanadas they made last week were good stuff.

Hey Willie, what would you do if you woke up and found out your bred delivery wasn’t going to show? This wasn’t a planned strike.

  • Willie

What would I do? Since I’m in the business, I can tell you not only what I >wouldhave< done – send one of my people out to purchase bread. That's would I would, and have, done in similar situations.

…and a tip of the hat to the Far From Home people – it seems they’ve decided to find another supplier for their rolls.
