Barbuzzo Praised

Brian Freedman calls Barbuzzo the best restaurant in the Safran & Turney 13th Street empire.

Fideua, essentially a less familiar take on paella with short vermicelli instead of rice, can now take its place next to Adsum’s foie gras poutine as the best high-brow drunk food in town. It’s stuffed with tender calamari bands, sea-tasting shrimp, mussels musky with saffron, and smoky, paprika-scented chorico. Those noodles, heady with the combined scents of the seafood peeking up throughout, as well as the intensely flavored broth in which they’re cooked, is impossible to stop forking.

    I find Barbuzzo more informal, more inexpensive and frankly better than Amis but certainly feel free to keep hating.

    I also much prefer Barbuzzo to Amis. Try the budino.

    I think Barbuzzo’s marketing is better than the food. But the food is still good.

    I may be missing something, but how is Barbuzzo similar to Audrey Claire aside from having female ownership?

    I agree with Buckethead. Barbuzzo is better (and about half the price) of Amis.

    Barbuzzo rocks. Amis is fine, but I’d pick Barbuzzo every time if I had to choose.
