Lobster Deals for August

The succulent crustacean gets special treatment at Philly restaurants

Lobster — perhaps the ultimate summer indulgence —is clawing its way into area restaurants during the month of August. You can get the sweet, rich crustacean in all its glorious forms (whole! rolls! with Japanese flair! shelled!) at affordable prices. Click through for our lobster deals round-up.

Head to Fairmount’s London Grill for classic crustacean dishes from Sunday, August 1 to Monday, September 6. They’ll offer five different lobster specials, including the most luxurious of hoagies (or grinders?)—a New England Lobster Roll ($13). For the traditional bib-and-butter experience, there’s a $30 Whole Lobster Dinner–a whole two-pound steamed lobster, new potatoes, corn on the cob, and drawn butter.

Ooka in Montgomeryville offers a less traditional approach to the delicacy. From Friday, July 30 to Tuesday, August 31, the restaurant will offer Japanese riffs on lobster, like lobster miso soup ($10) and a tempura lobster roll ($16).
Ooka, 764 Bethlehem Pike, Montgomeryville, 215-361-1119

If the work of shelling lobster turns you off, Honey in Doylestown offers a no-fuss solution: lazy lobster. They coax the whole crustacean out of its shell in the kitchen, leaving you with just the sweet, delicate meat to savor (no bibs required). You can get a 1.25 lb. whole shelled Maine lobster with Jersey sweet corn, peas, beech mushrooms, and truffled miso butter for $36 from Friday, July 30 to Tuesday, August 31.
