Street Team Eats at Banana Leaf

Foobooz-Street-Team-full-f8b8zA craving for Malaysian food found the Foobooz Street Team at Banana Leaf, an old favorite at 1009 Arch Street. This time the Street Team sampled the Sizzling Beef with Black Pepper, and it did not disappoint.

The succulent platter arrived sizzling as promised, with tender pieces of beef seasoned nicely with black pepper, snow peas, carrots, mushrooms and onions in a tasty sauce. It could be described as a fajita without the tortillas but with the flavor and texture kicked up 100 notches.

Being starch lovers the Street Team opted for the Curried Chicken Rice as an accompaniment, which was a meal in itself. Of course no trip to Banana Leaf would be complete without the Roti Canai, the Indian pancake that is just the right amount of chewy and crispy, dipped in a side of yummy curry sauce. Tip: Although not on the menu, ask for the vegetarian version of the dipping sauce – it’s thicker and tastier than the chicken version.

Best of all, this meal cost less than $15 per person split between two. Licking our lips for the lingering flavors of Malaysia the rest of the night – free of cost.
