The Diving Horse

This afternoon we received a more detail on the Diving Horse, the Avalon BYOB from the Pub & Kitchen’s Dan Clark, Ed Hackett and Jonathan “Johnny Mac” Adams.

The seafood-centric restaurant will open on Tuesday, June 1st and will serve dinner nightly through Labor Day.

There will be seating for 70 and will feature ample outdoor dining. The white-washed, modern farmhouse atmosphere features bright, oversized windows, a color palate of light earth tones, a walk-in, open kitchen and views of Avalon’s main drag. Reclaimed materials will be used throughout including tabletops, church pews and center -cut yellow pine flooring from the 1880’s.

The menu will feature food from nearby farms and day boat fishermen. The menu will change daily but will include:

  • Fried Oysters served with warm German potato salad and pancetta remoulade
  • Bibb Lettuce Salad with green goddess dressing, French green beans and the day’s crab catch
  • Barnegat Bay Scallops over pearl pasta with wild mushrooms and vermouth nage
  • Dry Aged Angus Steak with rosemary fingerling potatoes or a classic steakhouse wedge salad.

Dishes will range in price from $9 to $31.
