Yes, tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo, America’s trendiest reason to get drunk. Luckily there are some classier ways to do so.

Craig LaBan suggests a “Michelada” instead of the predictable margarita. Michelada means “My Frozen Beer” and is best served up at Xochitl. [Philadelphia Inquirer]

Speaking of Xochitl, they’ll be doing it up right with a four-course menu for $35 focusing on street foods from Puebla. There will also be 1/2 price margaritas at the bar all night. [Xochitl]

Distrito enjoys its first Cinco de Mayo with two parties. Starting at 11:30am the first floor will  feature DJs throughtout the day plus $5 Mexican street food snacks and $5 drink specials like sangria and margaritas. Upstairs a special $35 dinner menu will be offered. [Distrito]

Lolita and Duross & Langel team up for some fun. There are margaritas to sample at D&L as well as Lolita margarita inspired soaps, scrubs and lip balms. Lolita is going a little more straight forward with a 3-course menu for $38 per person. [Duross & Langel / Lolita]

This week Matyson celebrates Cinco de Mayo with a Mexican inspired tasting menu. We say yes to the rock shrimp and wild mushroom tamale and everything else on Matyson’s tasting menu. [Matyson]

Alison two is celebrating the day with a special on Mexican tequila martinis with jalapeno stuffed olives. From 6:30 to 7:30 there will be complimentary tastings of tequilas and margaritas. All week, specials will include Mexican dishes. [Alison two]

The Plaza Cafe outside the Comcast Center is getting into the spirit with dancing, live entertainment and drink specials from 5 to 9pm. [Table 31]

North Bowl is featuring a mariachi band from 8 to 11pm and is offering $2 beer specials plus $5 sauza drinks. There will also be a taco eating contest for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. [North Bowl]
