Get Happy Unhappy

Get Happy, the former Kildare’s on 2nd Street closed yesterday after a disagreement with Kildare’s founder Dave Magrogan over the liquor license. Get Happy had been running with the at Kildare’s license since it opened back in January.

Owners Paul and Christine Lauriello just emailed out this note.

To Our Valued Guests and Friends,

Get Happy Pub and Restaurant was forced to close on Wednesday, April 8th when Dave Magrogan and the Kildare’s group came and took the liquor license that we were operating under. When we refused to sign a questionable agreement written by Dave, the “deal” was off.

We apologize for the abrupt closing! Be assured that the Lauriello family is working hard to re-open as soon as we can to continue to serve our friends and guests. We appreciate the support during our first 3 months of operation. The local support from the neighborhood allows us to continue the quest towards independence from Dave Magrogan & Kildares.

We hope that shortly we will be able to spread the Get Happy Spirit once again in the Society Hill Neighborhood!

Paul & Christine Lauriello

I hope you make it with out that snake Dave Magrogan. At Kildares, the food is horrible, and cater only to drunken backwards baseball cap wearing college dopes.Trust me.At his West Chester location The Cops regularly stop by to break up fights, and why would’nt they, $2 shots and beers and lousey Dj’s spinning Top 40 brings ’em in. Good luck “Get Happy’

Dave Magrogan is the biggest scum bag in Philly. He wants everyone to think he’s got a great business concept going when in reality he’s failing. Sure, his West Chester & Manayunk locations do fine, but this jack ass went and opened 8 bars in 5 years! You’re a joke, Dave. Why’d you close Grady David’s in Honeybrook? Oh, because the landlord changed the locks on you for not paying rent. He owes money to just about every vendor he’s done business with. Sysco is suing him for over a half million dollars. He actually said (off the record, of course) that no bartenders over the age of 25 are to be hired anymore. What a scum bag.
