James Gosper, former winemaker at Green Point Winery, is on a mission to educate the U.S. about cool-climate Australian wine regions such as the Yarra Valley and Margaret River. He’s bringing a bevy of character-rich whites and terroir-driven reds to help him with his important mission. In these regions, deep, alluvial soils retain sufficient moisture to stay green longer during the hot Australian summer, resulting in excellent grapes. MoÃ«t Hennessy, international distributor extraordinaire, cemented this region’s potential in 1986 when they started producing sparkling wines in the methode traditionelle under the Domaine Chandon label at Green Point. Gosper will finesse your palate with Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet and Shiraz from Cape Mentelle in Western Australia, Green Point in Southern Australia and Cloudy Bay in New Zealand. Luscious cheeses and delectable nibbles will be served to complement these Australian beauties.
