Coaching Buzz: Bill O’Brien Reportedly On Eagles’ Short List

Add one more name to the list of potential Andy Reid replacements.

According to ESPN’s’ Chris Mortensen, Penn State’s Bill O’Brien is on the Eagles’ short list. O’Brien spent five years on the Patriots’ coaching staff, including one as offensive coordinator. Under trying circumstances, he led the Nittany Lions to an 8-4 (6-2 Big Ten) record in 2012.

An obvious question is: Why would O’Brien have taken the Penn State job if he planned on bolting for the NFL after one season?

Reid: No Discussions With Lurie This Week

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy ReidAndy Reid was asked Friday — following what could be his last practice as head coach of the Eagles — if Jeffrey Lurie has talked to him this week about what his intentions are with the coaching situation.

“No. No, we haven’t talked,” Reid replied.

As much as Reid and the players are trying to keep the conversation on the Giants, it inevitably floats to what happens when time runs off the clock Sunday. Even if it’s not with the Eagles, does Reid definitely intend to coach next year?

“I don’t know what I’d do without the media,” said Reid, fitting a joke into the uncomfortable gathering inside the practice bubble. “That’s what I want to do…I do want to coach, yeah.”
