Mayock, Kiper On Zach Ertz, Bennie Logan

Here’s what analysts had to say about the Eagles’ selection of Stanford tight end Zach Ertz at No. 35:

NFL Network’s Mike Mayock: “What I’m seeing from Chip Kelly is we’re going to start to define this offense. He took a tackle last night that’s the best athlete amongst any of the offensive linemen. Now we’ve got a detachable H-Back tight end that runs great routes, kind of a positional blocker. …He’s got great hands, and at 6-foot-5, 250-plus pounds, you can line him up in-line, in the slot, out wide. You can move him, and he’ll use that big body, he’ll create separation, he’s tough. I think that’s a heck of a pick and another offensive weapon for the Eagles.”

NFL Network’s Brian Billick: “I equate him to Jimmy Graham with New Orleans. …I like the way Ertz uses his body. His body is very athletic.”

ESPN’s Todd McShay: “In a lot of ways, that makes sense if you look at what Chip Kelly wants to do. This is a guy that is very fast, very athletic, and they moved him all over the field at Stanford.”

ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr.: “Big kid, you talk about the separation that he can get. I think his route-running was outstanding at Stanford. This kid is 6-foot-5, 250 pounds. 112 receptions the last three years, 15 touchdowns, has some shake after the catch. Great route-runner. You’re talking about a kid who I think can improve as a blocker. He’s a better prospect than Coby Fleener, who went early to the Indianapolis Colts, early second round. This kid can play.”

And on Bennie Logan, the Eagles’ third-round pick:

Mayock: “Another really solid double. 6-2, 310, long arms. Hard-working playmaker. He can get up in gaps and make plays, but he’s also stout against the run.”

NFL Network’s Charles Davis: “He’s a guy that could be an excellent rotational defensive tackle inside who can give you some flash plays.”

Pete Prisco, CBSSports.com: “Logan never quite lived up to the star billing. But at 6-2, 309 pounds, he has great quickness, is strong at the point of attack and does a great job of using his hands. He had only five sacks the past two seasons, but he is capable of getting upfield as a pass rusher. He is a former defensive end who has bulked up, so the speed is there.”
