Anderson Receives Ed Block Courage Award

Teammates have voted Colt Anderson as the Eagles’ Ed Block Courage Award recipient for 2012.

The award goes to players “who exemplify commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and courage.”

Anderson suffered a torn ACL in Week 13 of last season, but got back on the field after missing only one game this year.

“Colt is the epitome of what this award represents,” said Eagles head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder in a statement. “He approached every day of his rehab process like it was game day. His intensity and passion and attention to detail allowed him to have such a quick and successful recovery, and I think that’s something that inspires his teammates. Colt is a guy who has had to work extremely hard for everything he has achieved, and this is a well-deserved honor for him.”

An undrafted free agent out of Montana in 2010, Anderson signed with the Eagles in 2010. Last year, he was named special-teams MVP, and Anderson leads the Eagles in special-teams points this year.

He’s also provided an upgrade at safety the last two weeks, notching 19 tackles and earning a starting job.
