DeSean Jackson has likely played his final game for Andy Reid.
Jackson suffered fractured ribs in the first quarter of Monday night’s game against the Panthers and will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season, Reid announced today. The injury occurred on an end around that picked up 2 yards.
“He’s got multiple fractures up high,” said Reid. “It looks like six weeks possibly [for recovery].”
Jackson has 45 catches for 700 yards and two touchdowns on the season.
The other receivers currently on the Eagles’ roster are Jeremy Maclin, Jason Avant, Riley Cooper, Damaris Johnson and Greg Salas.
Avant has been out with a hamstring strain, but Reid said he has a chance to practice tomorrow.
The coach was asked if the rash of injuries on the offensive side of the ball is a legitimate excuse for the recent poor play.
“No, that’s not where we’re at,” said Reid. “The next guy comes in and the next guy plays. There are no excuses with that.”
In other injury news: LeSean McCoy is still in Phase 1 of the Eagles’ concussion program. Don’t expect to see him against the Cowboys. Michael Vick still has yet to pass the imPACT test. Reid suggested that Nick Foles is in line to start in Dallas Sunday. Fletcher Cox has a tailbone contusion and most likely will not practice Wednesday. King Dunlap has an MCL strain and will be sidelined Wednesday. Stanley Havili is dealing with an ankle sprain. Dallas Reynolds also has a sprained ankle.
The Eagles will not activate Jason Peters (Achilles). He will be placed on IR.
