Vick Advancing In Concussion Testing

Michael Vick is making progress.

According to head trainer Rick Burkholder, Vick has advanced past the first stage of concussion testing and is now into Phase 2. He can now exercise and was seen on a stationary bike Friday afternoon.

It is doubtful that Vick would be ready for Monday against Carolina, though he has not officially been ruled out.

“We’ll see. I just want to see how he does here,” Andy Reid said on Wednesday. “I’m not going to put him at any risk. We’re not going to do that. That’s not where we’re at.”

Part of the initial hurdle was clearing the IMPACT test. Vick was below baseline when tested Monday, but he has since passed.

While this does not suggest his return is imminent, it does mean he is getting closer. Reid has maintained that Vick will be the starter when healthy. Many believe that Nick Foles should play the remaining six games so the team can evaluate him.

“I told you before, Michael is the starting quarterback and that’s the way we work it until [he’s healthy],” said Reid. “Until he gets healthy then we can’t do anything.”

Vick was not at practice Friday. Same goes for LeSean McCoy, who is also suffering from a concussion and is expected to sit out against the Panthers.

Riley Cooper (knee) returned to practice Friday. Jason Avant (hamstring)  and Chris Polk (toe) were not able to go.
