Healthy Jamar Chaney Back In the LB Mix

Jamar Chaney was briefly promoted to starting nickel linebacker in training camp, then hurt his hamstring the first day on the job. The rest of the preseason was a battle against the nagging injury. But on Thursday, he declared himself 100 percent.

Will he be back in the mix against the Browns?

“Probably so,” said Chaney. “They are going to try and find a way to put the best guys out there. They just told us to be ready, told me to be ready.”

Chaney has been working at backup SAM, but has spent time at really all the linebacker positions. On Thursday, he worked alongside Mychal Kendricks in the nickel, according to the rookie.

“A couple times Chaney helped me out with what I needed to do, and DeMeco [Ryans] did the same thing,” said Kendricks.

“All of us are playing each package. They’re intertwining us with one another. We’re just getting acclimated all together. We’re playing pretty well, too.”

Ryans was asked his thoughts about all the moving parts at linebacker.

“It’s just whatever the coaches tell us, that’s what we do, so it’s no big deal to me,” said Ryans. Will he be out there on third downs against Cleveland?

“That’s the coaches’ decision. I don’t decide who goes out on the field. If I could be a coach/player, then I would make those decisions.”
