The Whip Tavern
1383 North Chatham Road
Coatesville, PA 19320
This comfortable, out-of-the-way English pub nestled in Chester horse country has all the required pub fare (fish and chips, bangers and mash, Scotch eggs, Coleman's hot mustard) and a nod to owner K.C. Kulp's native Buffalo: the "beef on weck," thinnly sliced top round on a Kaiser roll topped with pretzel salt and carraway seeds.

We loved our chance to visit the English countryside - right here in PA - From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by a cozy fireplace and tempting aromas. The mussels in strongbow cider were just the beginning of a great evening and we will definetly be back to enjoy more as the evenings get more crisp.

No one can say I didn't give this place a chance. I've been four times and only been successfully seated once. They're content to let you wait hours while they seat recent arrivals ahead of you (friends? regulars? I'm not sure). The food is good, but not worth the hassle, rudeness and confusion that greets you at the door. I'm done trying.
