There will be a rally on Thursday to protest the recent vandalism at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Northeast Philadelphia. The “Stand Against Hate Gathering” is scheduled for noon at Independence Mall.

The protest has been promoted by the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, Mayor Jim Kenney, and others.

Police and city officials held a press conference on Tuesday about the cemetery vandalism. There are no leads; there is about $30,000 in reward money out there for anyone providing information that leads to a conviction.

Meanwhile, dozens of volunteers are helping to clean up Mt. Carmel. There are so many volunteers that they’re being organized into shifts. “Every day, today, Wednesday, Thursday, hopefully Sunday, we will organize — between noon and four — cleanups every hour, 50 slots an hour,” Steven Rosenberg, the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s CFO, told 6 ABC.
