Jim Kenney Says He’s Not a Fan of Stop and Frisk

He predicts he can trump bad "racial math" and appeal to a wide array of voters, as his media blitz begins.

Expect to see a lot of Councilman Jim Kenney in the days leading up to the (expected) launch of his mayoral campaign.

As a sitting Councilman, he has the opportunity to get a lot of press this week: First, he revealed this morning that he is stepping down from his Council seat on Thursday. Then he took questions about his resignation from reporters during a press conference this afternoon. On Thursday, he’ll get some more press when he officially quits City Council (and presumably makes a resignation speech from the floor). And, of course, even more press when he announces shortly thereafter that he is officially running for mayor.

Here are some Twitter highlights from today’s press conference. None, of course, quite live up to the bizarre majesty of Kenney’s own Twitter feed.
