Free Lyfts for Made in America Attendees This Weekend (No Need to Drive Drunk)

The ridesharing service will provide free rides for festival-goers.

Lyft will be offering free rides home this weekend for attendees of Budweiser’s two-day Made in America Festival at Benjamin Franklin Parkway on September 3rd and 4th.

New and existing users will be able to get 2 free rides of up to $10. The ridesharing company says the code will be available onsite and via a push notification within the app.

Lyft is the official ridesharing partner of the music festival, and a spokesperson for the company said that the partnership will “ease transportation challenges for attendees and give them an alternative to getting behind the wheel after drinking.”

While reports have speculated that ridesharing services like Lyft have led to a decrease in DUIs, especially for millennials, last year, Pa. was ranked in the top 20 states with the worst drivers based on factors like failure to obey, speeding, and drunk driving.

And it’s clear that Philly doesn’t need a festival for drivers to get behind the wheel while under the influence.

Lyft’s competitor Uber says it will not offer any special deals or promotions for the festival this weekend.

To manage the tens of thousands of festival goers expected to attend the Labor Day Weekend event, the city has announced road closures and SEPTA detours.
