Philadelphia’s tech scene got some nice recognition in a new Huffington Post article ranking the top 10 cities that techies should consider moving to in 2016. It ranked fifth, slightly behind more established tech havens like San Jose and Austin.

The article (which has some serious grammar issues — get it together HuffPo!) says that the Philly “startup scene is banding together to grow” and has “rock star companies like RJMetrics, DuckDuckGo, and Curalate.” We can’t disagree there: RJMetrics is growing at lightning speed; DuckDuckGo is taking on Google at its own game; and Curalate was the first company to make Instagram shoppable.

The article also highlights Philly’s perks, like average rent of $1,200 per month and close proximity to the beach and mountains. Of course, the writer gets lame and has to mention the Philly cheesesteak, but we’ll let it slide.

“It’s clear they’re doing an incredible job at growing the tech scene. Look for a few more companies like Journey Sales and Scholly to have a big 2016 too!” the article says.

The top three cities were San Francisco, Austin and San Jose.

Obviously this is a subjective list written by a guy that needs a proofreader, but it’s clear that Philly’s startup leaders have been working hard to plan events, make connections and create a welcoming community — and that should definitely be celebrated.
