Philly-Area Company Named Fifth-Best Franchise Opportunity in U.S.

That's much better than McDonalds, Panera Bread and Midas.

Marketwired has ranked the best franchising opportunities in the United States — and a local company ranked far above big national names like McDonalds, Panera Bread and Midas.

Aamco, the Horsham, Pa.-based transmission specialist and car care company, ranked 5th overall, and was named the no. 1 automotive franchise opportunity. It has 671 locations nationwide.

But investing in an Aamco franchise isn’t cheap — it’ll cost you $65,000 in cash and the total investment will be $227,400 to $333,000, depending on the real estate site selected. Franchisees are expected to have a net worth of $250,000 to get started. They get four weeks of initial training — three of which take place at AAMCO University (yes, that’s a thing.) The company also inserts a personal business coach into every new location for the first five weeks that a center is open.

To determine the best franchises, Marketwired evaluated companies based on growth prospect, marketing support, training, ongoing support and value.

“We have been making major investments in the brand around training and technology and are pleased to see this translate into the rankings we received,” said Brett Ponton, CEO and president of American Driveline and AAMCO Transmission Inc. in a statement.

The top five franchises were:

  1. Jackson Hewitt Tax Service
  2. 7-Eleven Convenience Stores
  3. G6 Hospitality
  4. Cinnabon
  5. Aamco
