Well-Suited
When it comes to stepping out as a couple, I think most women know that there’s really no use getting all dressed up if your date is going to be wearing a sloppy T, slouchy pants, scuffed shoes, and a hangdog expression. Like the perfect accessory, your well-dressed man can help you make a fashion statement. (And, gals, no matter how stunning you are, people can be distracted by who’s on your arm. Think Pete Doherty.)
So maybe the boyfriend does have style, but because of his casual-dress profession (umm … computer geek, magazine writer, musician), he’s not compelled to don suits every day, and therefore his closet doesn’t really scream bespoke. But inevitably, the special occasion rears up, and he’s trying to match a five-year-old tie with his least-wrinkled dress shirt, or (gasp!) reaching for the hound’s-tooth blazer that’s been around for more than 10 years.
Enter Banana Republic and its fall collection of men’s suits, which require little brainwork (blazer and matching pants can be bought separately to size) and are stylishly cut (not your dad’s suit). Personally, since my guy purchased the one pictured here, I’ve been looking forward to showing him off at two upcoming weddings. He’s going to look fabulous with my new dress.
