Slow your roll, Philly: In a sneaky attempt to slow down Philly drivers, high-tech 3-D images of speed bumps will soon be projected at about 100 intersections throughout the city. Great, now drivers will think actual speed bumps are fake too and fly over them without braking. [KYW]
A (not so) happy ending: And now, from the Department of Stating the Obvious, those “massage parlors” you see advertised in newspapers aren’t really massage parlors! Who knew? Four alleged prostitutes were arrested in Chinatown yesterday in the first of many police raids to come. Some say prostitution is a victimless crime, but Chief Inspector William Colarulo disagrees, stating that drug addiction and gang ties often go hand in hand with women involved in acts of prostitution. Buy this man a beer: An unsuspecting Gloucester County man is a hero today after pulling his injured elderly neighbor from an apartment fire last night. Shane Myers, 33, was walking by the building when he spotted the blaze. He was warning residents of the danger when he spotted the victim inside the burning building and pulled him out through the front door. The elderly man was rushed to Crozier-Chester Medical Center, where he was treated for burns and smoke inhalation. Myers was also treated for burns he received on his left arm. [CBS 3]
Bicycle accident claims life of former Comcast executive: The former general counsel of Comcast was killed yesterday in Moorestown after an unfortunate series of events. Stanley Wang was traveling by bike when the driver of a Dodge Dakota opened his door, knocking the 67-year-old off of his bike and into the street. Moments later, a 19-year-old driver passing and struck him. Wang was taken to Kennedy Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. [Inquirer]
