Celeb Stalking: Jennifer Beals … at Bob and Barbara’s?!
Last night, after an Obama-stumping tour of two LGBT-friendly healthcare facilities in Center City, Jennifer Beals of Flashdance and L Word fame stopped by legendary Philly dive Bob & Barbara’s to take in the weekly Thursday night drag show, the longest-running of its kind in the city. Not sure if she had the infamous $3 Special (a can of PBR and a shot of Jim Beam), but she did stay for the entire show. Afterward, Beals was escorted behind the curtain and out the back door, as the entrance was crammed with celeb (albeit fairly minor celeb) stalkers.

Of course some misinformed lesbian told me Jennifer was going to Bump at 9PM, and I wasted my time there. I did have a nice salad though.

After what turned out to be the most uncomfortable environment I’ve ever experienced at Sisters, my lovely girlfriend and I managed to slip under the radar to Bob and Barbara’s thanks to an underground tip from Obama representative man outside Key West. (Shout out to him. You made my entire April 17th) Alas, after an hour or so of answering the common straight guy questions about lesbians [that guys did know he was about to see a drag show right?], downing a PBR and Jim Beam (of which Jennifer did not have) and coming across the most fascinating cigarettes to date (thank you Camel Crush representative Natalie), our Beals stalking was complete when we were encountered by her solo right there on the South street sidewalk. With no one else in site, I approached her ‘lil posse and proceeded to shake her hand and thank her for coming to Philadelphia. She graciously engaged in the snapping of our newest MySpace photo, and smelled better than I ever fantasized. After a few moments of trying to act cool as we walked away, she quickly grabbed our attention by telling my crutch bearing lady that she “hopes she feels better” as she headed into the bar. Of course, we followed her in and after 45 min of enjoying the same fantastic drag performance, she disappeared into the curtains, only to be escorted into the darkness of the streets of Philadelphia. *Sigh*. It was worth the $3 cab fair, cheating on my Miller Lite, and spanks I wore all night to look slightly thinner in my picture. =) Jennifer Beals we love you…but I’m still voting for Hillary.

yes, I was at Sisters to see Jennifer Beals. I was so angry that Sisters did nothing to organize Beals appearance. She was totally mobbed as she walked in. I never even got to get a pic. with her. She actually walked out after about 10 minutes. I felt so bad for her. Sisters should be ashamed the way the handled that. Jennifer Beals probalby thinks all lesbians are crazy voltures. But Jennifer if your out there we love you!!!! And hope L Word stays on the air!!

Jenny is a wounderful actress. But first she is a beautiful person on the inside and that is what makes one want to meet her. She does so many other things than just acting. She is human and deserves her privacy. She is a very private person. But she loves meeting fans. We need to respect all actors. Jenny is such an inspriation to all to never stop learning and live life to the fullest. Enjoy
