The Cruel Extinguishing of the Larry Fitzgerald Rumors

Larry FitzgeraldAfter another weekend of rumor-slinging from Dallas to Delaware about the potential acquisition of contractually embattled Arizona wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, the Inquirer’s Bob Brookover has finally had enough. The headline of his story —”A trade for Larry Fitzgerald? Don’t count on it” — essentially says it all, but just in case any glimmers of hope survived that upfront assault, Brookover stomps all over them halfway through the piece: “It’s not going to happen.”

Even online the hope is dying. Jason B, resident Iggles excavator at Bleeding Green Nation, spouted his own exasperated rant about Fitzgerald late yesterday afternoon, calling the trade total “nonsense” in an attempt to calm wild-eyed fans convinced this deal is a possibility.

So once again we’re seemingly back to square one and left to wait and wonder if all of this aggressiveness on the part of the Eagles will leave them without the playmaking superstar they desperately covet. As great as the Asante Samuel signing was, it’s hard not to come into this season with a “what might have been” attitude thanks to the failed attempt at fleecing the Pats for Randy Moss and the rumors about pretty much every single number-one wide receiver who might possibly be available.

Just remember: Brian Westbrook solves a lot of problems offensively, and although a top-tier receiver would like nice on the roster, it doesn’t mean the Eagles can’t win a Super Bowl without one.

Besides, did everybody forget the Eagles already signed a receiver this year? Don’t make all of those people who purchased Bam Childress jerseys at Modell’s feel insignificant.

Thanks to all the trolls who dropped by to visit our Arizona Cardinal’s official website, Larry must have read the trash talk that polluted the board and decided the west coast was considerably more desirable! We love our Larry….
