Alycia Lane Lawsuit Could Include Defamation, But Might Be “Specious”
According to one local legal insider, Alycia Lane’s impending Paul Rosen-honchoed lawsuit might allege not only wrongful termination, but also defamation, simply based on the fact that CBS 3 followed through with not-so-quietly booting her out the door.
“It depends how her contract is structured,” the source tells the Daily Examiner, adding that any action by Rosen at this point might be “specious”: “It’s definitely a tough argument, trying to demonstrate that CBS 3’s action was unwarranted and unusual given the circumstances.”
The chances of the suit getting filed today are remarkably high, says the source, and if it does happen, don’t be too surprised if CBS 3 rapidly fights back with a countersuit. However, another source close to the station says that CBS 3 often settles these sorts of cases rather quickly and will usually “fold like a deck of cards” in order to avoid court time.
In other CBS 3 news, station rep Joanna Calabria says that there is no timetable for hiring a replacement for her and that the station is taking its time to “consider our options.”
“Luckily, we’re in Larry’s capable hands,” she says.

Much ado about nothing.
Some news anchors are overpaid “pretty faces” who contribute little that is useful to society.
Being paid $700,000 to read the news strikes me as outlandish.

I guess she’ll have to sue the Daily News and NY Post too:

That’s true, she would have to based on the illogical reasoning for her suit. The pivotal professional ethics clause was breached the second she commiserated with Gov. Rendell on this outrageously immoral personal matter. She will lose far more $ when faced with Rosen’s bills than she could possible gain. Plus, prior poor judgments will be fully aired in the courtroom.
I suppose it is a shock to some people who are willing to accept any foul behaviors to learn that this is one profession where someone must possess integrity. I dare say that was the most expensive epithet uttered in recent local history. She was apparently unworthy of holding such a prestigious position, unworthily entrusted with the public’s trust. At least there still is a high price one pays for disrespecting members and protectors of the community.

Well if she made 700k Imagine what some of the others make, like Larry Mendte or Jim Gardner…we support these salaries by watching……
So nobody can complain..
She will be just fine………….

The suit is very logical. CBS would be better off settling than going into sweeps having to deal with a law suit. In this situation, where Alycia has not been convicted there may be enough wiggle room in her contract that a good lawyer could win the case. After her criminal trial that may change depending on the verdict, but since that is in April CBS will probably make her an offer to get it out of the way.
My feeling is If CEOs who helped ruin companies can walk away with $100 million golden parachutes, than a TV anchor who helped build a distant third news cast into one that challenges for the top spot deserves one to two years salary.
In the grand scheme of thing Alycia Lane is one of the least appropriate target for vitriol. She was a productive employee of channel 3 who made some mistakes in her personal life that cost her her job. What ever she get from the law suit will only be a fraction of the salary she lost, not to mention the prestige of anchoring a highly rate news cast in a top 10 market. She has been punished.

HAHA. You all think the bikini photos and the cop hitting are the first incidents for Alycia? Those who know her from Miami knwo she’s a crack head who made her way into the Philly market because she did something under the table (u know what I mean)
She has everything written for her and she never ever come sup with anything on her own. Lane is a high priced cry baby and she thought her p–sy ruled the world cuz of the sway it had in getting her hired

Funny how ALycia Lane used the dyke epithet since she was shcacking up with her news director susan schiller who is a bisexual. the two were having sleepovers at lane’s washington squaer apartment while Schiller went thru marital problems. Was Lane trying to cover up the fact that she has homosexual feelings?
