Rick Santorum Eyes 2010 Guv Opening

1191268580According to a report in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, former Sen. Rick Santorum is seriously considering making a gubernatorial run in 2010. Santorum — who lost his senatorial seat to Bob Casey Jr. and most of the respect of liberal America thanks to his controversial, antiquated, animal-friendly thoughts about gay marriage and women in the workplace — is still considered to be a legitimate contender.

An unnamed political source in the piece says: “Rick is a politician. He loves the competition and the process of running. He’s getting back in and he’s young enough that a gubernatorial run would set him up for greater opportunities politically down the road.”

Obviously, news like this spurs dialogue among fervent anti-Santorumites who are pining for his return just so they can have something to talk about:

“He’s like a character in a bad horror movie that just won’t go away” — The Carpetbagger Report

“I expect a good train wreck in 2010. Pass the popcorn.” — Newshoggers

“Santorum doesn’t seem to grasp how disliked he is in Pennsylvania. Perhaps if he lived here the last numerous years he’d have a clue.” — The Pennsylvania Progressive

It is exciting to hear that he’s thinking of running for governor. I will be working in his campaign when it happens. He is loved here in Pennsylvania for his courage, integrity, and passion for things that really matter. He’s one politician who doesn’t play politics when it comes to family issues, education, immigration and national security.
