Nutter Dimly Shines at Comedy Night, Others … Not So Much
Last night’s Stu Bykofsky Candidates Comedy Night at Finnigan’s Wake had its usual array of Playboy-quality jokes and ribaldry. Some of the most surprising moments of the evening came from Michael Nutter. First, he has to continue attending charisma workshops, since his delivery of Top Ten List-jokes was amazingly awful. However, he does have a tremendous singing voice, like a pre-wheelchair Teddy Pendergrass. But Republican councilman at large candidate, Phil Kerwick, provided the evening’s Ted Danson-in-blackface moment.
According to Philly mag staffers in attendance, Kerwick had the “ABSOLUTE WORST PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT:”
“He gave one of the most embarrassing, racist, vulgar, and downright awful stand-ups I have ever seen. Most of his jokes were so offensive I can’t repeat them. People stiffened and bordered on booing, but probably refrained because of the general tenor of the evening. His line that got the most applause: “‘I’m going to say one more thing and then I’m getting the hell out of here.’”
Some highlights from Kerwick’s routine:
* One, about how candy was made, is an old chestnut that included lines about grabbing a guy’s Zagnuts and plowing into a woman’s Juicy Fruit. Putting a Tootsie Roll in her Milky Way.”
* Another was about a guy who stuttered at a doctor’s office. He gets into conversation with another guy waiting to see the doctor for his prostate. Stuttering guy doesn’t get what the problem is, so Guy #2 says, “Put it this way: I piss like you talk.”
* And the whopper was one about how Buckwheat of The Little Rascals was converting to Islam, with the new name “Kareem O Wheat.” You could see the blacks in the audience freeze …
It’s amazing that Kerwick lobbed such a terribly inappropriate black joke like that. Especially considering he’s owner/confectioner of the Blasius Chocolate Factory.

I think Byko was feeding Kerwick his jokes to make everyone forget about the ‘Another 9/11′ debacle.

These folks are encouraged to participate, with even being hinted to deliver adult and/or off-color remarks, all the while being told that his is off the record and will be considered for entertainment only, then a posting like this rips the material. Maybe a nite of stiff ones is what AJ really wants…
