Too-Cool-for-School Ad Firm Implicated in Too-Cool-for-School Logo Hijacking

Philly’s Gyro Advertising unveiled its “Worst Logo Contest” yesterday, which nominated numerous noteworthy Philadelphia institutions for their ugly-fonted logos (nominees include The Pennsylvania Lottery, B101 and Jim’s Steaks). The “winner” of the Ugly Logo contest will be unveiled in a couple of weeks and receive a free makeover from Gyro.
But … Philebrity (also nominated for ugliness) revealed that the Gyro agency may have been a bit shortsighted in designing its own logo, as it closely resembles that of South Street’s 611 Records. Parallel thinking or lack of original thought from a supposedly edgy ad firm?
