Manatawny Still Works will be the first local distillery to take advantage of a change to Pennsylvania’s Limited Distillery license that allows distilleries to open satellite tasting rooms. The Pottstown based spirits manufacturer has signed a lease and intends to open a tasting room at 1603 East Passyunk Avenue. The location is the former kitchen of Chiarella’s Ristorante.

The Manatawny tasting room will be 600 square foot and will offer tastings of Manatawny’s spirits line, cocktails, as well as bottles and merchandise for retail sale.

The tasting room will offer programming and education that will include visits from Manatawny’s master distiller and product training. With the tasting room located in the middle of East Passyunk’s restaurant murderers row, the distillery is looking forward to introducing itself to the neighborhood and perhaps collaborating on some projects.

The Tasting extension limits the hours of the business to 11 p.m.

The rest of Chiarella’s space that faces the fountain and Tasker Street will become the second Rival Bros. cafe location later this year.
