Kawaii Kitty Cafe is Opening in Queen Village

While this isn’t the most serious news Foobooz has reported, it might be the cutest. Kawaii Kitty Cafe will be celebrating their grand opening this weekend.

Like something straight out a coloring book, the Asian inspired Kawaii Kitty Cafe (759 South 4th Street) will feature two rooms: one just for eating and one for spending time with the cats. Kristen Eissler, the owner of the café, traveled to Asia in her previous job as a fashion designer and was inspired by the cat cafes there.

“I used grab coffee and spend my breaks at PAWS in Old City and I always saw other people doing the same thing,” said Eissler. “So, I thought a cafe like this might be a good fit for Philly.”

Now the candy colored cat cafe is a reality and has paired up with PAWS. Booking time with the cats will cost $5 per hour and they will be taking online reservations.

Joe Ronca is heading up the kitchen, which will be dishing out the typical cafe fare. Check out the menu below. They will also be serving La Colombe coffee.

For the opening weekend, Kawaii Kitty Café will be open Saturday and Sunday and will be open via reservation only. And at night the café will be hosting ticketed parties to celebrate the opening.

Tickets are selling fast, reservations will fill up, and cats will be adopted quickly. Eissler said two cats were already adopted before they even arrived at the café.

The café will be open Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
