PHOTOS: My Day at Philly’s Marvel Experience

To be frank, I know little to nothing about Marvel Comics, so my walk-through of Philadelphia’s Marvel Experience at Lincoln Financial Field is with purist’s eyes. The national touring attraction, which was delayed nearly a week so the creators could work on “technical enhancements,” essentially transforms the stadium into a mini theme park of sorts, complete with a domed motion ride and 360-degree theater (“If you get sick, raise your hand,” visitors were warned). Like I said, I’m not a Marvel follower, so some of the details throughout the attraction clearly went unnoticed. However, as a Philadelphian, I did find it rather cool to stand dead center in Lincoln Financial Field, surrounded by empty bleachers, waiting to enter the next phase of the attraction (bring sunglasses if it is sunny and an umbrella if it rains, because you are outdoors for a segment of the tour).

From a critical standpoint, the second half of the “experience,” which takes place on the field in the domes, is far better than the first, where visitors are essentially herded through the indoor parts of the stadium. Below is a bit of my journey from start to finish on the opening day of Philly’s superhero training, and don’t forget to check out the experience for yourself: The attraction is here through July 5th. Tickets and more information can be found here.
