Where Does The War On Drugs Hang Out in Philadelphia?

From pizza joints to hoagie shops, the local band chews over their favorite spots to eat and drink in Philadelphia.

Local band The War On Drugs members Robbie Bennett and Dave Hartley recently sat down with the creators of music and food app Supper to share their favorite places to get a bite to eat in Philadelphia. To help tourists and locals alike avoid falling into the trap of the countless “best food in town” claims, each revealed some of their “hidden-gems” throughout the city.

For “simple, cheap and amazingly good [food],” Hartley recommends Loco Pez in Fishtown and The French Bakery in Chestnut Hill. The latter he compares to “stumbl[ing] into your grandparent’s kitchen just in time for the best breakfast you’ve ever had.”

For Bennett, the best place to grab a slice is from “the exceptional mad scientist of ‘Za,” Joe Beddia at Pizzeria Beddia. They also offer some of their favorite late night options for food and drink, including the not-so-hidden gem Johnny Brenda’s. Citing their burgers as one of the best in Philly.
