Report: Eagles Contacted Panthers About Jackson

Another day, another DeSean Jackson report.

The latest one, however, provides a bit of a twist. It’s the first information that suggests the Eagles are actively calling teams to gauge their interest in Jackson.

A league source tells the Charlotte Observer that the Panthers were one of the teams the Eagles reached out to about Jackson. Per the report, the Panthers have only about $5 million in cap space and are not in position to take on Jackson’s salary.

Yesterday, an NFL Network report indicated the Eagles had talked to Carolina, Oakland and the Jets about Jackson. The Raiders and Jets both have needs at wide receiver and would be in position to take on the wide receiver’s salary.

The Eagles have not said much of anything about Jackson. But the owners’ meetings in Orlando are next week. Jeffrey Lurie, Howie Roseman and Chip Kelly are expected to be available to the media.

Birds 24/7 will be there with full coverage.
